The all-new ZL402 Gen IV LS2-based aluminum short block builds on the phenomenal success of our original ZL402 iron short-block. This new package uses the same race proven internals as its iron block predecessor but features the all-new LS2 block for weight savings of over 100 pounds. We've even increased the compression ratio to 11:1 (nominal) - the same as GM's new 500-horse LS7! Although designed primarily for use in late-model F-Bodies, Corvettes and GTOs, the aluminum ZL402 also makes a great choice for most street rods, muscle-cars and trucks. Best of all, it's sold outright, eliminating the shipping hassles and expenses of core returns.

This package is sold in long-block form, including and installed SLP/AFR head-and-camshaft package w/# 51015 camshaft, SLP double-row timing chain, SLP Heavy-duty oil pump, new GM lifters and lifter guides, ARP cylinder head studs and MLS head gaskets. The advantage of this approach is the new ZL402 long-block ships to you already assembled.

NOTE: While placing your order, please specify model year that the 402 will be installed in, and what style reluctor wheel is required. SLP's harmonic balancer/under-drive pulley is required for proper installation (or an equivalent pulley that is properly keyed) a stock balancer/pulley will NOT fit.
